So, let me preface this post by admitting I am indeed no poet! As a writer, poetry has always been one of those areas where I enjoy reading it, but writing it is another matter entirely. I take my hat off to poets! With that said though, I do like to have a tinker every now and then, so here we are!
I’m not one for new year resolutions, but as we head into January, I do think that our minds turn to the year ahead (whether you view it as the new year or not, but that’s a post for another day) and for me, it’s a time to look forward to the beauty and possibilities that are inherent in all the seasons.
Happy New Year folks!
Springtide’s dreams are filled with fun
Growing with the strengthening sun.
Plans filled with the promise of delight
That warm us through the still cold night.
Magick and splendour are summer’s dreams,
Of golden sun and bubbling streams,
Skies of blue and golden wheat,
Adventure awaits at our feet.
Autumnal dreams of shortening light
Cosy comforts, the drawing in of night.
The last of the harvests, all orange and red,
Echo the colours of leaves being shed.
Icy nights and clouded breath,
Winter’s dreams, a yearly death.
A time of quiet, the land does sleep,
The memories of the year it keeps.
A spiral path, the wheel does tread,
Years connected with a living thread,
Stringing together the memories we weave,
Treasured gifts for others we leave.
